A patrol should be unpredictable enough to matter

Mobile patrols are useful when a site needs regular physical checks but not a static officer at every location. Routes and timings can vary within the agreed assignment so that the patrol is not reduced to a predictable routine.

What officers can check

The patrol brief should be specific to the property.

  • Doors, gates and obvious signs of forced entry
  • Perimeter damage or suspicious activity
  • Lighting and vulnerable external areas
  • Vehicles, plant or exposed equipment
  • Alarm activations and requested welfare checks

A real person can make a decision

A patrol officer can notice something that does not trigger an alarm, assess whether it is normal for the site and escalate when needed. That human judgement is one of the main reasons patrols remain useful alongside electronic systems.

Reports should record what was checked and anything that requires the client's attention.
